Feast & Field 2025
May 29-Sept 25
June 26th - La Muchacha y el Propio Junte - Colombian folk rock
Manizales-born artist, Isabel Ramirez Ocampo, has set out to create as a collective, experimenting with new sounds with double bass and drums to her usual vocals and guitar. La Muchacha taps into folk and rock to sing with beautiful devotion about the challenges facing current-day Colombia. Joining her are Miguel Velásquez Matijasevic (Los Cotopla Boyz) on double bass and Camilo Bartelsman (1280 Almas) on percussion. Together, they have forged a symbiotic relationship between songwriting and collective musical vibes.
This engagement is made possible in part through the Performing Arts Global Exchange program of Mid Atlantic Arts with support from the National Endowment for the Arts along with the Samara Fund at the Vermont Community Foundation.
July 3rd - Lakou Mizik - Haitian roots
Lakou Mizik is a powerhouse collective of Haitian roots music with a soulful energy and a mix of styles that feels mystical and familiar. In the wake of Haiti’s devastating 2010 earthquake, the band came together to show the world that their country was much more than the sum of headlines. They have gained an international following with their positive message and dance party inducing performances.
July 10th - KeruBo - Afro-jazz & folk
Hailing from Kenya and now residing in Burlington, KeruBo has been gracing stages across the globe for over two decades.
KeruBo’s musical artistry is a fusion of African Traditional Music enriched with traces of Brazilian Samba/Bossa nova, Jazz, and Blues. Her vocal repertoire effortlessly transitions between time-honored African laments and contemporary renditions.
July 17th - Quincy Saul’s Research and Development Band - funk/soul
With a name inspired by Herbie Hancock's legendary Mwandishi group, the R&D Band convenes local musicians to launch toward global and galactic horizons. The core group features fine cabinetmaker Pete Michelinie on drums, astrophysicist Lukas Saul on bass, and ecosocialist organizer Quincy Saul on piano and clarinets. Expect music on the world-soul-jazz-funk-family continuum with originals and classics and surprise cameos from artists renowned and unknown.
July 24th - Khumariyaan - Pakistani hyperfolk & Pashtun
Khumariyaan translates as "the state of musical intoxication," capturing the essence of this hyper-folk jam band. Formed in 2009 in Peshawar, Pakistan, Khumariyaan emerged during a tumultuous period marked by Talibanization, sectarian violence, military operations, and neo-imperialist expansions. In such a climate, art served as a form of resistance. Hospitality is central to Pushtoon culture; Khumariyaan welcomes all under its expansive, potent, and intoxicating musical tent.
July 31st - TBD
Aug 7th - Mal Maiz - psychedelic latin
https://www.facebook.com/malmaiz/
Mal Maïz explores the psychedelic side of Latin music, weaving modern and traditional rhythms from Central and South America with poetic storytelling that incorporates the complexity of the myths and legends of the ancient oral culture of Central America.
Maiz “Brujo” Vargas founded the group in Burlington in 2015, joining forces with some of Vermont’s most professional and inspired musicians. The product is a coalescence of explosive and complex sounds that will make you dance & celebrate and will heal your soul.
Aug 14th - Zikina - Afro-jazz & rock
Zikina came from across continents and cultures to show that despite all the forces in the world that emphasize our differences and try to diminish and pull us apart, we can come together to make something beautiful and new. With Uganda native Gideon Ampeire on a variety of traditional East African instruments, Mike Cardozo on guitar, Roston Kirk on bass and Kurt Eisele-Dyrli on drums, it doesn’t take long for this music to get you dancing, clapping along, connecting.
Aug 21st - Beecharmer - old timey/bluegrass
Beecharmer is a modern acoustic string band from Wilder, Vermont. A fresh take on a long-time collaboration between husband and wife duo, Jes Raymond and Jakob Breitbach, Beecharmer distills 10 years of international touring into a sound that is part festival and part mountain top. It’s a playful twang with artful arrangements, tight time-polished harmonies, virtuosic fiddle, skillful flatpicking, clawhammer banjo, and Upright Bass. Performing as a duet, or backed by a rotating cast of talented believers, Beecharmer is a joymaker.
Aug 28th - Bow Thayer’s Choirs of Aether - improvisational rock
https://bowthayer.com/choirs-of-aether
Consisting of Bow Thayer (multi-instrumentalist), Krishna Guthrie (multi-instrumentalist) and Steve Ferraris (Sun Ra percussionist), the band shares musical duties in a sort of sound-swap that feels more like one big instrument. A song may start out as a folk or old time format and end up somewhere…in the Aether.
Sept 4th - Timbermash - bluegrass/Americana
Timbermash brings an eclectic sound full of sweet harmonies, driving bass lines, heartfelt solos, and an overall sound that will get you moving! The band is an evolution of the Upper Valley duo, Mountain Dog (Justin Parks and Mark Burds), as they were craving a more full sound. Fiddler Jen Friese was an obvious addition, as her flexibility as a musician is a perfect complement to their diverse styles. Ben Kogan (bass), was the last important piece of the puzzle, giving Timbermash its steady backbone and creative flair.
Sept 11th - Queer Dance Party
Sept 18th - Fabiola Méndez - Puerto Rican folk & jazz
https://www.fabiolamendezmusic.com/
Fabiola Méndez began playing the cuatro, a 5-double string traditional guitar of Puerto Rico, when she was 6 years old and in 2018 she became the first Puerto Rican Cuatrista to graduate from Berklee College of Music. Her music crosses over the lines of genres such as folkloric, jazz, and Latin.

About Feast & Field
Feast & Field is a weekly celebration of music, food and community held in the Fable Farm Orchard in Barnard, Vermont - every Thursday - from late May thru September. The Feast & Field Music Series is run by BarnArts and the Feast & Field farmers provide locally sourced food and drink, much of which is harvested and produced right in Barnard.
BarnArts and the Feast & Field LLC are an unusual partnership of a nonprofit and local businesses. BarnArts provides the music, but the Feast & Field Farmers (Fable Farm, Eastman Farm and Kiss the Cow) provide the land, the food & drink, and also act as our Thursday hosts in the beautiful Fable Farm Orchard. What unites us is a love of community, locally-sourced food, an exceptional music series, and the beautiful Vermont outdoors!
Our new Music Program Manager, Victoria Johnson, curates our music series to be a world-class lineup that balances genre, gender and race, and features regional and international bands, while staying true to our home-grown heart. Vermont-led bands fill 50% of our line-up.
Our vision of Feast & Field includes serving the community and making sure that everyone can attend the gathering, which is why our tickets are sliding scale $5-25 per person, free for kids 12 and under. BarnArts and Feast & Field LLC split the gate revenue but both groups' expenses are only partly met by the gate funds. Please consider sponsoring the Music Series or supporting BarnArts with a donation or becoming a friend of Feast & Field to further each groups sustainability and mission.
