Production Dates: February 9-18

Production Location: Barnard Town Hall

Rehearsal Schedule: one longer weekend afternoon rehearsal, and 1-2 weeknights.  Specific days and times will be influenced by the schedules of the cast.

Rehearsals will begin slowly in December and begin full force in January

Characters:

John Worthing - A respectable gentleman who acts a bit older than he appears and spends time in both the city and the country; a friend of Algernon, guardian of Cecily, and suitor of Gwendolen.
Casting: Male, late 20s-early 30s or able to play one

Algernon Moncrieff - A less respectable gentleman with an ego and also spends time in both the city and the country; a friend of Algernon, cousin of Gwendolen, and nephew of Lady Bracknell who eventually falls for Cecily.
Casting: Male, mid to late 20s or able to play one

Gwendolen Fairfax - A strong-willed yet respectable lady with specific ideas about the name of her future husband; daughter of Lady Bracknell, cousin of Algernon, and in love with John.
Casting: Female, late 20s to mid-30s or able to play one

Lady Bracknell - A very respected, intimidating lady of high class with lots of opinions; mother of Gwendolen and aunt of Algernon.
Casting: Female, late 40s to early 60s or able to play one

Cecily Cardew - A witty, pretty, and imaginative young lady with specific ideas about the name of her future husband; ward of John and who eventually falls for Algernon.
Casting: Female, late 20s to mid-30s or able to play one

Miss Prism, Governess - A dutiful and experienced tutor in the country; teacher of Cecily, employee of John, and eventually falls for Rev. Chasuble.
Casting: late 40s to early 60s or able to play one, written as female but open to change.

Rev. Canon Chasuble - A country reverend of high respect who lives and works near John’s country estate; eventually falls for Miss Prism.
Casting: late 40s to early 60s or able to play one, written as male but open to change.

Merriman - John’s dutiful butler in the country.
Casting: Open to all ages & genders

Lane - Algernon’s dutiful servant in London.
Casting: Open to all ages & genders
